Our Club is built on local support and local volunteers, serving our community by providing opportunities for men’s, women’s and junior netball and football.

We have over 160 years of history behind us. As one of Australia’s oldest continuing football clubs we have evolved into a multi-sport club which delivers over a dozen levels of competition each weekend from Auskick through to senior netball.

Our strength is in our community spirit, our resilience, and our unity.

The Castlemaine Football Netball Club, nicknamed the “Magpies”, is an Australian-rules football and netball club based in Castlemaine, Victoria. Formed in 1859, we are the second oldest documented football club in Australia.

Our netball and men’s football teams play within the Bendigo Football Netball League whilst our women’s football team plays within the Central Victorian Football League Women’s. Camp Reserve in Castlemaine (Dja Dja Wurrung country) is our home ground.

We also have an extensive junior football arm which provides opportunities for younger generations to fall in love with the game and access development pathways through to senior-level sport and beyond. Our home base for junior sport is the Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve in Wesley Hill (Dja Dja Wurrung country).

Respect begins at an individual level, extends to team mates and the wider community.

We instil within our Members and playing group a strong tradition of giving back to our region and those who need a helping hand. Within our Club people will experience a sense of belonging and will receive unconditional support when needed.

  • Our Club is built on resilience having survived cycles of hardship, set backs, and success over the past 160+ years. When the going gets tough our Members knuckle down, pull together and rise above adversity. This value holds true whether on or off the sporting field.

  • We successfully work together because we value the role that sport plays in our lives and are passionate about developing football and netball skills within others. Sharing our passion for the game brings us closer and motivates us to be the best sportspeople that we can be.
